The purpose of this project is to explore a new form of expression for the traditional Chinese instrument, the Guzheng. The aim of doing this research is to find a new way to better inform people about the Guzheng and to spread the Guzheng culture to a new audience. The project proposes an innovative form of visual music expression for Guzheng music, which can be adapted to the current media format to attract more attention. Although music visualization is usually based on the structure of the music, the visualization of Guzheng music is different because of its unique vocal style and fingering. This visualization can be applied to understand Guzheng playing and enhance the visualization of Guzheng performance. The proposed visualization system is innovative not only for visualizing Guzheng music, but also for obtaining valuable user research results and iterations among general audiences.
